Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya has stated that international assistance is being obtained to uncover the truth behind the 2.5 million US dollar cyber fraud, with the Australian High Commission providing full cooperation.

Speaking in Kandy on April 24, she dismissed opposition allegations as politically motivated and expressed readiness to face a no-confidence motion in Parliament.

She stated that a clear official report has already been issued and that investigations are ongoing with international support. She reiterated that opposition claims lack evidence and are aimed at political gain.

Rejecting allegations that media freedom is being curtailed, she said the government remains committed to press freedom while expecting responsible journalism. She added that the public would clearly understand politically driven narratives and asserted confidence in the stability of the government.
