Indian Navy chief visits Sri Lanka to reinforce maritime and defence partnership

Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) of Inda, is on an official visit to Sri Lanka to reinforce the longstanding defence and maritime partnership between the two countries.

On 23 September, CNS called on Sri Lankan Prime Minister, Dr Harini Amarasuriya. The two leaders held wide-ranging discussions on enhancing bilateral defence ties, with a particular focus on maritime cooperation. They also discussed continued engagement in Indian-hosted multilateral initiatives such as the Admiral’s Cup, International Fleet Review, and MILAN.

During the visit, Admiral Tripathi met several senior dignitaries, including Deputy Defence Minister Maj Gen KP Aruna Jayasekera, Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), Sri Lanka Navy Commander Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, Sri Lanka Air Force Commander Air Marshal VB Edirisinghe, and Sri Lanka Army Commander Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo.
