Improper Statements to Be Reviewed Before Deletion from Hansard – Speaker

Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne stated that the remarks deemed inappropriate in Parliament, including those made by MP Archuna Ramanathan, would be reviewed before any deletion from the Hansard record.

He made this clarification during the Parliamentary sitting held on 11 November 2025, when MP Archuna raised a point of order under Standing Order 82/1.

The Speaker further stated that all such remarks, including those made by Archuna himself, have been referred to the Secretary-General’s Committee for examination before necessary action is taken.
