Hindu man shot dead in Bangladesh

Another Hindu youth was shot dead in public on the evening of Jan 5 in Bangladesh’s Jashore district, triggering panic in the area. 

The incident took place around 5:45 pm at Kopalia Bazar in Ward No. 17 of Manirampur upazila. 

This is the fifth fatal attack on the members of Bangladesh’s Hindu community who have been killed in separate violent incidents over the past three weeks, raising serious concerns over law and order amid continuing unrest and protests across the country.

In the recent attack, the deceased has been identified as Rana Pratap (45), son of Tushar Kanti Bairagi, a resident of Arua village in Keshabpur upazila.

According to eyewitnesses and police sources, unidentified assailants opened fire on Rana Pratap while he was present at the market. He sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot.
