Government Must Prevent Prison Killings, Says MP Sathiyalingam

Tamil National Alliance MP Pathmanathan Sathiyalingam has urged the Government to ensure that prison killings do not recur, drawing parallels between the recent Negombo Prison violence and past incidents involving Tamil political prisoners.

Speaking in Parliament, he expressed condolences to those killed in the Negombo clashes and questioned why earlier prison massacres, including those at Welikada, Kalutara and Bindunuwewa, had not resulted in accountability.

He said those now demanding action over the Negombo incident had remained silent during previous killings and called on the Government to ensure such tragedies are never repeated.
