Government Moves to Secure Grant from Asia-Pacific Disaster Response Fund

The government has decided to receive a grant from the Asia-Pacific Disaster Response Fund for relief and recovery activities following the disaster.
The fund, established at the Asian Development Bank in 2009, provides development grants to member countries to restore essential life-saving services after disasters and outbreaks.
Sri Lanka requested financial assistance from the ADB to support its emergency response plan related to the impact of Cyclone . The ADB agreed to provide USD 3 million under the Asia-Pacific Disaster Response Fund.
The Cabinet approved the proposal submitted by the President, as Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, to enter into the relevant agreement with the ADB.
