Government Is Moving Toward One-Party Rule – Sajith Premadasa

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa warned that the government is working toward establishing one-party rule. 

Speaking in Anuradhapura at a meeting with newly elected local council members, he said the government is systematically trying to control all institutions, from farmers’ and fishermen’s groups to religious boards.

He accused the government of making partisan appointments even to civil defense committees, which were originally established to ensure community safety with multi-party participation.

Premadasa urged unity among opposition forces to resist the government’s authoritarian agenda, insisting that the people can defeat this one-party dream if they stand together.
