European Union Delegation to Visit Chemmani Mass Grave Site

A delegation representing European Union member states is expected to visit the Chemmani mass grave site in early July, subject to court approval.
To date, 353 skeletal remains have been identified at the site. Excavation activities under the third phase continued on June 12, marking the 23rd day of operations.
Twelve skeletal remains were identified during the latest excavation, with seven subsequently exhumed.
Of the 353 skeletons identified so far, 334 have been excavated.
Sources also indicate that Minister of Justice and National Integration Harshana Nanayakkara is expected to visit the site either this week or next week.
