EPS slams MK Stalin over caste-linked street renaming
11-Oct-2025.
AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) on October 9 criticised Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin over the state government’s ongoing initiative to rename streets and public infrastructure. EPS alleged that the move was aimed at naming roads after his father, late M Karunanidhi.
“Deliberately, this government order has been planned to name roads after your father. If AIADMK comes to power, this will be scrapped,” Palaniswami said, adding that naming streets after anyone could create differences between leaders.
Former BJP state president K Annamalai also questioned why names of former Chief Ministers M.G. Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa were not included in the list released by the government. “This GO appears to promote your leaders. Why confine important leaders like Rettamalai Srinivasan and Ambedkar to caste? This GO should be revoked,” he said.
