Drop in Foreign Tourist Arrivals in March

The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority reported a significant decline in foreign tourist arrivals in March 2026.

A total of 183,979 visitors arrived, a 19.7% decrease compared to March last year. India accounted for the highest number at 47,533 (26%), followed by the UK (18,092), Russia (15,685), Germany (13,429), China (14,064), and France (8,359).

From 1st January to 31st March 2026, the total number of foreign arrivals was 740,634.
