Cyclone Death Toll Climbs to 635

With the monsoon strengthening, thunderstorms are expected across most parts of the country, especially in the Northern, North Central and Eastern Provinces.
Reservoir sluice gates have been partially opened due to rising water levels. By the evening of Dec 8, the national death toll reached 635, with 192 missing, according to the Disaster Management Centre.
A total of 1,766,103 people from 512,123 families have been affected. 5,325 houses are completely destroyed and 81,163 partially damaged. The number of people in temporary shelters is decreasing, with 69,861 people from 22,218 families still in 690 shelters.
