Colombo Central Criminal Investigation Division Declared a Detention Centre Under PTA

The Colombo-based Central Criminal Investigation Division (CCID) has officially been designated a detention centre under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA), through a gazette notification issued on the instructions of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his capacity as Minister of Defence.
The designation was made through Extraordinary Gazette No. 2509/11.
Under Section 9 of the Prevention of Terrorism Act, No. 48 of 1979, the President exercised the powers vested in him to declare the Central Criminal Investigation Division in Colombo a detention centre under the Act.
The CCID, now designated as a detention centre, is located on the seventh floor of the Secretariat building in Colombo 5.
The President, acting in his capacity as Minister of Defence, signed the gazette notification on 17 September, it was reported.
