Chandrika Calls for Open Discussion on Allegations Against Buddhist Monks

Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga criticised political leaders for remaining silent over recent allegations involving Buddhist monks.
In a video statement, she said the allegations had deeply disturbed many Buddhists and stressed the need for an open national discussion to protect the integrity of Buddhism. She revealed that she had written to senior Buddhist clergy, urging them to ensure that offenders are brought to justice while safeguarding the reputation of the Buddhist community.
