Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Nalinda Jayatissa stated that politicians who are not linked to drug-related crimes need not harbor unnecessary fears.

However, those involved in such crimes cannot escape the law under any circumstances, and even seeking refuge with Ranil Wickremesinghe will not be of any use.

Speaking at the press briefing at the Government Information Department on September 23, he further explained that when police went to arrest three suspects, including Kehelbattar Padme, at an apartment, they were not present there but were instead hiding at another apartment belonging to Bako Saman.

Indonesian police were then able to apprehend all suspects together because they had gathered out of fear.

Similarly, many opposition members have joined the United National Party alliance out of fear of arrest. The government has not taken action to suppress any opposition party. If politicians are not involved in drug crimes, there is no need for fear.

However, if any political links exist, it is best to bring them before the law.

Protecting future generations requires exposing such political interference. No politician connected to drug crimes will be able to escape the grip of the law, and seeking refuge with Ranil Wickremesinghe will be futile, he concluded.
