ADB Provides 90 Million Dollar Loan for Development Projects

The Ministry of Finance has signed an agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for a US$90 million loan to strengthen links between marginalized communities and key socio-economic centers.
The funds will support the development of approximately 500 km of roads in underdeveloped regions, with features designed to withstand climate challenges and provide inclusive facilities for women, children, the elderly, and persons with special needs.
It will also finance the rehabilitation of 21 km of national highways and maintenance of 100 km of rural roads.
The agreement was signed by Harsha Sooriyapperuma, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, on behalf of Sri Lanka, and Takafumi Katano, ADB Country Director for Sri Lanka.
