5.8 magnitude earthquake jolts Assam

Panic gripped Assam on the evening of September 14 as three earthquakes rattled the state within just 40 minutes.

At 4.41 pm, a 5.8 magnitude quake struck Udalguri district, Assam government officials said. 

The epicentre was located in Udalguri at a shallow depth of 5 km.“All three quakes struck at a shallow depth of 5 km, adding to the intensity felt on the ground,” officials confirmed.

They added, “There was no immediate report of any loss of life or damage to property.”
