A nationwide initiative to establish young inventors’ clubs and science societies in government schools is underway, with 100 such clubs formally launched in selected schools in the Eastern Province.

The programme, led by Minister of Science and Technology Professor Krishantha Abeysekera, aims to promote STEM education and encourage students to transform everyday challenges into innovative solutions.

The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between imagination and practical innovation while providing guidance and facilities to foster creativity among students.

The Minister stated that the government recognizes youth as a key national asset and plans to expand STEM promotion programmes across school systems, with a focus on transforming inventions into commercially viable products.
