The Mira Boat Club in Cape Breton is closing for the remainder of the season following an early morning fire on October 9.

The building sustained heavy exterior damage and widespread smoke damage.

The Albert Bridge Volunteer Fire Department called in the Nova Scotia fire marshal's office to open an investigation.

Gary O’Brien of the fire marshal's office said cases like this are becoming increasingly common in the region.
