Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is named East Zone vice-captain for the 2026-27 Duleep Trophy, reflecting his rapid rise and impressive performances, including a recent T20I debut and high ICC ranking. 

He will deputize under captain Ishan Kishan, a returning national player. The squad features experienced pacer Mohammed Shami, aiming to reclaim his place, alongside strong batsmen like Abhimanyu Easwaran. East Zone's team combines youthful talent and seasoned players from Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Assam, aiming for a competitive tournament showing.
