Victoria Park swan Otis dies at approximately 19 years old

One of Victoria Park’s beloved swans has died at approximately 19 years old.

The City of Kitchener said Otis died peacefully on the evening of September 18.

Otis had been a familiar presence at Victoria Park since arriving in 2009, bringing joy to visitors and becoming a well-known part of the community, the city said.

His mate, Ophelia, remains at Victoria Park and is being closely monitored.

The city said it is working with a veterinarian to support Ophelia following Otis’ death and is asking visitors to give her space and treat her with care and respect.
