After nearly two decades the City of Dawson Creek in northeast B.C. is making its new flag official.

Councillors voted 5-2 on March 9 to adopt a blue and gold flag featuring a silhouetted signpost inside a stylized grain elevator, formalizing a Canadian Heraldic Authority design granted to the city in 2008 but which has never actually been used until now.

"Formalizing the official flag ensures future councils and staff are clear which flag is correct," said Mayor Darcy Dober. "It clears up any confusion between the heraldic registry and the current flag we were flying.”
