Body recovered after man drowned in Ponoka pond: RCMP

The body of a 62-year-old man who drowned in Ponoka last week has been recovered, police announced in a news release issued on July 21.

The RCMP said officers responded to a 911 call about a man calling for help in the middle of Ponoka's Centennial Park Pond at 9:50 p.m. on July 16. Firefighters and paramedics also responded.

Police said witnesses told them a man had gone underwater and did not resurface.
