5-year-old boy and a man drown in Wabigoon Lake in Dryden

Two people, including a five-year-old boy, drowned in Wabigoon Lake in Dryden on the weekend, Ontario Provincial Police said.

At about 4 p.m. on September 27, the boy and a 28-year-old man entered the water but did not resurface.

Dryden OPP, along with the OPP's Emergency Response Team and OPP Marine Unit, searched the water.

The boy was recovered at about 7:15 a.m. on September 28 when police responded to a call about a body in the water at Flat Rock Park.

At about 5:50 p.m. on September 28, the OPP's Underwater Search and Recovery Unit assisted with recovering the body of the man.

No further details have been provided. Police say the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact OPP.
