The US military carried out airstrikes targeting Iranian rocket launchers on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz to stop Iran from laying sea mines. Following the strikes, US President Donald Trump shared AI-generated videos on Truth Social claiming they depicted the bombing of Iran's main oil hub, Kharg Island. 

However, a US official clarified that Kharg Island was not targeted in the overnight operation. Kharg Island handles around ninety percent of Iran's oil exports, while Larak Island serves as a critical military maritime control point overlooking key shipping lanes near Bandar Abbas.
