Russia, Ukraine agree to 3-day Trump-mediated ceasefire, prisoner swap
09-May-2026.
Russia and Ukraine agreed to a US-mediated three-day ceasefire from May 9 to 11, including a major prisoner exchange of 1,000 each.
The truce aligns with Russia's Victory Day celebrations, with Ukraine allowing the Moscow parade to proceed unchallenged. Despite the ceasefire, fighting and attacks continued. Leaders from both sides expressed hopes for extended peace talks.
The war, ongoing since Russia's 2022 invasion, has paused but remains intense, with Russia controlling 19.4% of Ukrainian territory amid slowed advances.
