Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he would be prepared to leave office once the war with Russia is over.

Speaking to the Axios news website, Zelenskyy emphasised, “My goal is to finish the war,” not to continue running for office.

In an interview with Barak Ravid on The Axios Show, Zelenskyy made clear that he does not intend to lead Ukraine in peacetime. He also pledged to ask parliament to organise elections if a ceasefire is reached. Asked whether he would see his job as finished after the war, Zelensky replied that he would be “ready” to step down.
