United States President Donald Trump on October 3 released a video message after Hamas signalled acceptance of parts of his Gaza peace proposal, stressing that his priority was to bring Israeli hostages home.

""I want to thank the countries that helped me put this together: Qatar, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and so many others. This is a big day. We will see how it turns out. We have to get the final word down and concrete. Very importantly, I look forward to having the hostages come home to their parents," 

Trump said in a video message posted on his Truth Social account hours after Hamas announced it would release all captives taken during the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel and enter negotiations on a prisoner exchange.

"I want to let you know that this is a very special day. Maybe unprecedented in many ways. We are very close to achieving peace in the Middle East. Everybody will be treated fairly," he added.
