We Will Not Abandon the Struggle Against the Government; Says Harin Fernando
23-Nov-2025.
Deputy General Secretary of the UNP, Harin Fernando, said that their struggle would end only after driving out the liars who deceived the public. Even if imprisoned a thousand times, they would not stop their fight, he said, adding that the campaign against the government would continue with second-generation leaders like Namal Rajapaksa.
He further stated:
I have been assigned to speak about the so-called ‘76-year curse.’ From 1948 to 1965, no such curse existed; it began only after 1965. Those who denied power to Rohana Wijeweera are the ones who began the destruction of this country.
The JVP is the primary cause of the alleged 76-year curse. This is the first time all opposition parties have come together against the government. We invite the Samagi Jana Balawegaya to join our next gatherings without conditions.
Second-generation leaders exist in all parties, not only Namal Rajapaksa. Thinking of them, too, we will continue this struggle.
We also remember former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who ended the 30-year war, and Ranil Wickremesinghe, who ended the ‘queue era.’ Even if we are jailed a thousand times, we will not stop this journey.
