US Congress members have expressed support for Tamils’ demands for justice and accountability, in connection with the Chemmani mass grave.

Posting on his X (Twitter) account, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi stated that the mass grave in Sri Lanka—containing human remains identified alongside children’s clothing and baby bottles—serves as a grim reminder of wartime atrocities.

He further noted that victims must receive justice, while families of the disappeared continue to demand independent investigations and genuine accountability.

Congresswoman Deborah Ross, also posting on X, said she was proud that North Carolina was home to a vibrant Tamil community affected by such atrocities. She recalled being contacted by her constituents following news of the Chemmani mass grave excavation and affirmed her support for Tamils’ call for justice and accountability.
