Vijay gets permission for December 18 rally
16-Dec-2025.
Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Vijay, whose public gatherings were put on halt after the Karur stampede claimed 41 lives, has finally received permission from Tamil Nadu Police to hold a rally in Erode district on Dec 18.
However, the permission comes with 84 conditions and a Rs 50,000 bond.
This marks his first public gathering in the state after a stampede at his rally in Karur claimed 41 lives on Sept 27, subjecting the leader and his party to widespread criticism.
As part of the approval for Erode rally, organisers were asked to pay a security deposit of Rs 50,000.
The venue must be cleaned after the event and handed back in its original condition. The permission was issued by Erode police, who laid down the conditions to ensure law and order, crowd control, and proper maintenance of the event venue.
