UN Resident Coordinator discusses PTA amendments with Justice Minister

United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sri Lanka Marc-André Franche has held extensive discussions with Justice Minister Harshana Nanayakkara on amendments to the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) and the work of the Office on Missing Persons.

The meeting between Minister of Justice, Prisons and National Integration Harshana Nanayakkara and UN Resident Coordinator in Sri Lanka Marc-André Franche was held in Colombo.

During the meeting, extensive discussions were held on rule-of-law reforms, including amendments to the Prevention of Terrorism Act, prison reforms, and the work of the Office on Missing Persons and the Office for Reparations, the UN Resident Coordinator said.

He also assured that the United Nations is prepared to extend its fullest support to efforts aimed at strengthening the rule of law, with particular attention being given to victims.
