UN Resident Representative Marc-André Franche warned that the world is still unprepared for natural disasters.
He noted that humanitarian funding globally has significantly declined, yet more severe disasters are expected in the coming decade.
Speaking at a Colombo press conference on Dec 11, he emphasized the need for countries to invest in climate resilience.
He described the unprecedented scale of concurrent global crises and outlined the UN’s humanitarian priority plan for Sri Lanka following Cyclone.
