Trincomalee Muthu Nagar Farmers Continue 40-Day Protest

Farmers in Muthu Nagar, Trincomalee, continued their Satyagraha protest for the 40th consecutive day on October 26 in front of the Trincomalee District Secretariat.

They are protesting the loss of their farmlands, which were leased to private companies for solar power projects, depriving them of their livelihoods.

The farmers expressed anger, saying a deputy minister has been deceiving them with contradictory statements and that the destruction of irrigation tanks shows the government’s so-called “system change” is a deception.
