Tributes to Fallen Heroes Across Northern and Eastern Regions

On November 26, Maaveerar (heroes) Day was observed across the Tamil homelands in the Northern and Eastern regions to honor those who sacrificed their lives for the Tamil struggle. Despite heavy rain, people gathered at Maaveerar memorials to pay their respects.
In many areas, local committees had requested the public to participate in Maaveerar tributes while suspending non-essential activities. Events included lighting memorial lamps, offering flowers, and observing moments of silence.
Key locations included: Jaffna: Valikamam Koppai, Northern Maratchi East Uduthurai, Thannamaratchi Kodikamam, Northern Maratchi Ellangkulam, Dheevagam Saatti Maaveerar memorials.
Mannar: Mullikkulam, Adkattiveli, Pandivirichchan Maaveerar memorials.
Kilinochchi: Kanagapuram and Mullangaa Maaveerar memorials, with public and former fighters participating.
Mullaitivu: Multiple Maaveerar memorials across Mulliyavalai, Visuvamadu, Thunukkai, and Alampil. Public figures, including MPs, former fighters, and parents of the fallen, actively participated.
Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Ampara: Local memorial events were held at Maaveerar memorial halls with community participation.
Diaspora Observances: Maaveerar Day was observed by Tamil communities in Australia (Melbourne, Parvath Reserve), London, France, Switzerland, Germany, the USA, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Canada.
Events included lighting ceremonial lamps, floral tributes, and remembrance ceremonies honoring the sacrifices of the Tamil heroes.
