Sri Lankan Embassy Issues Urgent Safety Advisory to Citizens in Nepal

Following flooding caused by a sudden surge of water into Rasuwa district through the Bhotekoshi River from the Tibetan region, the Sri Lankan Embassy in Kathmandu has issued an urgent safety advisory to Sri Lankan nationals in Nepal.

The floods have caused significant damage in the Timure and Syabrubesi areas and have also raised concerns in the downstream areas of the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers.

Sri Lankan nationals in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Chitwan and other riverside areas have been advised to avoid rivers, riverbanks, bridges and low-lying areas and to follow the instructions issued by local authorities and security forces.

Those planning to travel to flood-affected areas have been advised to postpone their journeys until the flood threat subsides and the roads are confirmed to be safe.
