Sri Lanka Condemns U.S. Military Intervention in Venezuela

Sri Lanka strongly condemns the military intervention carried out by the United States against Venezuela, Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath stated, adding that no global power has the right to violate the sovereignty of a UN member state.
The Minister made these remarks at a media briefing held on Jan 5 at the Ministry premises, attended by Deputy Minister Arun Hemachandra and senior officials, to outline the Ministry’s performance in the past year and its objectives for the year ahead.
Responding to a journalist’s question regarding the government’s stance on the U.S. action against Venezuela, Minister Herath reiterated that Sri Lanka condemns the intervention and emphasized respect for
national sovereignty under international law.
