SJB delegation meets UN Election Assessment Team

A delegation from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) held high-level talks with a UN Election Needs Assessment team led by UN Director of Electoral Assistance, Michel Griffin, in Colombo on October 1.

Discussions focused on Sri Lanka’s electoral process, including nomination filing, voting, and counting. 

A key topic was reform proposals related to the quota system and proportional representation.

Both sides emphasized the need to strengthen democratic practices in line with global changes, particularly in increasingly digitalized contexts.

This meeting was part of a broader UN evaluation process to understand the needs of stakeholders in Sri Lanka’s electoral field.
