Seven Arrested Including Main Suspect in Weligama Murder Case

Police have arrested the main suspect in the murder of Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Lasantha Wickramasekara in Maharagama.

Along with other suspects, he has been handed over to the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) for further inquiries.

According to the Police Media Division, investigations are being conducted under the direct supervision of the IGP.

Earlier, on October 26, two men and one woman were arrested in the Kekirawa area. The main suspect, who had escaped, was captured later in Nawinna, Maharagama, during a joint operation involving the Special Task Force, intelligence services, and local police units.

Multiple police teams are continuing the investigation under the full oversight of the Inspector General of Police, with senior DIGs from both Southern and Western provinces, CID, and intelligence divisions involved.
