Rs 100 crore from my pocket for development: Charles Martin's Puducherry poll pitch

Charles Martin, leader of the Latchiya Jananayaga Katchi (LJK) and brother-in-law of TVK leader Aadhav Arjuna, on Dec 25 vowed to spend Rs 100 crore of his own money for the development of the Puducherry if he wins the 2026 Assembly elections and forms the government.

With just months left for the elections in Puducherry, Charles Martin announced a slew of poll promises, with a strong focus on women empowerment, including six major welfare schemes.

“Direct support to women, while the government said Rs 2,000 will be given, I’m hearing that not even one rupee was distributed for the past three months. Hence I’m planning to increase the amount to Rs 4,000 monthly and a yearly amount of Rs 50,000,” Charles Martin said.
