Prime Minister Holds Discussions with Netherlands Ambassador

The Ambassador of the Netherlands assured Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya that the Netherlands is prepared to assist in repairing and rebuilding bridges damaged across the country due to the disaster.

During the meeting held in Colombo on Dec 3, both parties discussed avenues of assistance in the context of the widespread devastation caused by Cyclone.

The two sides noted the long-standing diplomatic ties between the countries and expressed commitment to further strengthening cooperation. 

Emphasis was placed on the importance of bilateral partnership during Sri Lanka’s challenging recovery phase. Discussions covered disaster-risk reduction, strengthening infrastructure, sustainable development, long-term planning and support for resilient reconstruction in affected communities.

The Ambassador confirmed readiness to assist in rebuilding damaged bridges nationwide given the urgent need.
