Prime Minister Attends Founder Lord Baden-Powell’s 169th Birthday Celebration

A special event marking the 169th birthday of Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the World Scouting Movement, was held at the National Scout Headquarters in Colombo on February 22, under the leadership of Prime Minister Kalani Harini Amarasuriya.

The Prime Minister paid tribute at Lord Baden-Powell’s statue, highlighting the role of scouts in community service, environmental initiatives, and responsible citizenship. 

Under the Scout Digital Modernization Project, laptops and starter kits were distributed to select districts, and a commemorative Scout seal set was presented to the Prime Minister by Chief Scout Commissioner Manoj Nanayakkara.
