President Seeks Continued Canadian Support for Human Rights and Reconciliation

The President appreciated Canada’s support for overcoming the economic crisis, improving human rights in Sri Lanka, and the reconciliation process, and expressed hope to the Canadian High Commissioner that such support would continue in the future.
A meeting between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Canadian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Eric Walsh was held at the Presidential Secretariat on August 12.
As Eric Walsh’s term ended and he was leaving Sri Lanka, the President wished him well in his future endeavours.
Recalling that a large number of Sri Lankans live in Canada, the President expressed appreciation for Canada’s support in overcoming the economic crisis, improving human rights, and the reconciliation process, and expressed his expectation that such support would continue.
The President’s Secretary Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumara Nayaka and Senior Additional Secretary Roshan Kamage were also present.
