Opposition Unity is Like a Garbage Heap – Bimal Rathnayake

Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation Bimal Rathnayake mocked the opposition’s current unity, comparing it to a garbage heap. He said the people support the National People’s Power (NPP) and will never return corrupt politicians to power.

Speaking at a public meeting in Ampara on September 21, he accused defeated parties from the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections of uniting out of desperation. He added that they are motivated not by public welfare but by protecting themselves from the law and strengthening their future political survival.

He stressed that the ruling NPP is not afraid of such alliances and that voters will decisively defeat them in upcoming elections.
