Opposition Seeks Clarification on Government Preparedness

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa questioned the government in Parliament about measures taken in response to the Middle East conflict.

He raised concerns about potential impacts on Sri Lankan migrant workers, aviation, fuel supply, foreign remittances, tourism, exports and foreign direct investment.

He requested details on evacuation plans, emergency response mechanisms at Sri Lankan embassies, 24-hour contact services, and measures to assist stranded Sri Lankans.

He also sought clarification on fuel supply arrangements, alternative shipping routes in case of disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, and steps taken to manage possible increases in global oil prices.
