Premadasa also highlighted expected post-IMF challenges after 2028 when debt repayments resume, calling for a regionally supported sustainable development strategy.

They discussed expanding cooperation in trade, energy, and infrastructure, and increasing investment in renewable energy and grid interconnectivity.

Dr. Jaishankar assured support for Sri Lankan parliamentarians to study India’s regional energy collaborations (with Bhutan and Nepal).

Both sides recognized Sri Lanka’s strategic role in Indian Ocean security and reaffirmed commitments to transparency, neutrality, and balanced foreign policy.
