Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa strongly condemned the United States’ attack on sovereign Iran, describing it as a violation of international declarations.
He made these remarks during a parliamentary debate held on March 3.
He stated that the attack violates international law as well as the United Nations Charter and proposed that the entire Parliament condemn the action. He also suggested that the government issue an official statement condemning the attack.
At the same time, he condemned retaliatory attacks reportedly carried out by Iran on neighboring Middle Eastern countries including Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia.
He emphasized that Sri Lanka must take a firm and unified national position during such complex global conflicts. He affirmed that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya and its alliance will not hesitate to declare that the attack on Iran was wrong.
