No Bus Fare Revision Despite Fuel Price Increase, Says National Transport Commission
03-Jun-2026.
The National Transport Commission (NTC) has announced that there will be no interim increase in bus fares despite the recent fuel price hike.
The decision follows requests by private bus operators for a fare revision after the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation increased fuel prices under the monthly fuel pricing formula.
The All Island Private Bus Owners' Association had sought a five per cent fare increase from June 2, ahead of the annual fare revision scheduled for July.
However, the NTC stated that an interim revision is unnecessary, taking into consideration the percentage increase in fuel prices and the upcoming annual fare review.
