New Procedure Introduced for ‘Ditwah Compensation Payments
15-Apr-2026.
The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has introduced a special scheme to provide compensation for houses and commercial buildings affected by the Cyclone Ditwah.
Under the scheme, affected areas have been classified into three categories: high-risk, medium-risk, and low-risk zones.
Thereafter, houses in high-risk zones will be further classified under Priority 1, Priority 2, and Priority 3.
NBRO stated that compensation payments will be made based on this priority list.
Although all residents in high-risk zones have already been resettled, the measure has been taken to ensure the efficient distribution of government funds.
The public may check their priority category through their respective Divisional Secretariat. NBRO also noted that even if an entire land area has been inspected and reported at the same time, compensation will still be released according to the priority ranking.
As a result, even if a neighbour receives funds earlier, others may not receive compensation immediately during the first phase, NBRO added.
