The Sri Lanka Navy successfully rescued the crew of the merchant vessel MV Integrity Star, which faced engine failure about 100 nautical miles south of Sri Lanka.
Following a distress alert received by the Colombo Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, the Navy dispatched the vessel INS Samudura to conduct a search-and-rescue operation as directed by the Ministry of Defence.
Fourteen crew members — nationals of India, Turkey, and Azerbaijan — were safely rescued and brought to Hambantota Port for further assistance.
Another merchant vessel, MV Morning Glory, had also been positioned nearby to provide additional support if required, demonstrating coordinated international maritime safety readiness, according to the Navy’s media division.
