Namal Rajapaksa Denies Rajapaksa Family’s Involvement in Drug Trade

At a press conference on September 6, SLPP National Organizer Namal Rajapaksa declared that his family will not allow false accusations of drug trafficking to be directed at the Rajapaksas.

He insisted that the government must disclose who owns the Nuwara Eliya property where the ice drug production facility was found. He said one SLPP member has already been suspended pending investigations but stressed that inquiries must be impartial and free of political revenge.

Namal further noted that government figures accused of negligence in the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks still hold senior posts, while the Rajapaksas are unfairly targeted. He called for transparent investigations into customs-cleared containers and reaffirmed his party’s commitment to lawful political conduct.
